Eshaq Jahangiri, who was addressing a meeting to examine ways to improve non-oil exports, said that non-oil export had been a prime duty of the governments in running the country. “The present cabinet works to raise non-oil export to position of the most major priority, and for doing so, it would exploit all the possibilities and strategies to increase non-oil exports,” Jahangiri said.
He believed that the unnecessary paper work and heavy barriers on the way of non-oil exports should be eliminated to facilitate exports. “The neighboring countries provide Iranian exporters a great market; similarly, we should create a giant leap forward in non-oil exports through providing special finances for target countries,” Jahangiri emphasized.
“Currently, the economy is in recession; to increase non-oil exports would significantly help a way out of the situation; economic observers believe that it is the sole driving force behind any plan with such ambition,” he told the meeting. “However, creating such a driving force requires a more stable situation and a positive image of the country in international community, where the government and president have taken great steps in signing export deals with different countries,” the first-deputy asserted.
Jahangiri called all businessmen and export enterprisers to ‘take neighboring countries seriously,’ leaving no stone unturned to find markets for Iranian goods and services.
He predicted holding a joint session with Non-oil Export Development Supreme Council to address existing issues in the near future. “The government has displayed a strong will in improving the position of the private sector in country’s economy, and we will see gradual overtures and serious dynamism in country’s non-oil exports,” Jahangiri said.
